Our Projects

Ndoto in Action implements community-centred projects that strengthen education, health, and school infrastructure, ensuring every child learns in a safe, supportive, and opportunity-filled environment

Student health and well being

Many of the schools we work with lack reliable water, safe sanitation, and proper nutrition; challenges that affect attendance and learning. We address this by improving access to clean water, building safe sanitation facilities, and supporting school feeding programs, therefore, helping students stay healthy, attend school more consistently, perform better academically, and feel more comfortable, especially girls.

Water is Life

NIA delivers sustainable water solutions by installing rainwater harvesting systems that ensure reliable, year-round access to safe water in schools. These systems reduce dependency on external water sources, improve hygiene practices, and safeguard learning continuity during water shortages. By strengthening water security, NIA enables schools to function as resilient and health-promoting environments.

School Feeding Program

School food security intervention ensures that children from low income families have consistent access to nutritious, balanced meals, which are essential for learning and development. Through school gardens, improved kitchens, and sustainable feeding systems, the program enhances student concentration, attendance, and academic performance. This approach not only addresses immediate nutritional needs but also builds long-term resilience and community ownership of food systems.

School Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (SWASH)

NIA strengthens SWASH systems to ensure that schools provide safe water, adequate sanitation, and hygiene facilities. By constructing and upgrading infrastructure such as toilets and handwashing stations, and promoting hygiene behavior change, the program reduces illness, improves attendance, and fosters dignity; particularly for girls. These efforts contribute to healthier, safer, and more inclusive learning environments.

Think Period

The Think Period project promotes girls’ health, dignity, and uninterrupted education by addressing menstrual hygiene barriers. NIA provides safe and private sanitation facilities, access to menstrual hygiene products, and comprehensive education to reduce stigma. This initiative empowers girls with confidence and ensures that menstruation does not limit their participation in school or their future potential.

School Infrastructure

NIA invests in inclusive, safe, and enabling school infrastructure to improve education quality and student well-being. Through construction and renovation of essential facilities, we address overcrowding, safety risks, and accessibility challenges. Improved infrastructure creates better learning environments, supports teacher effectiveness, and ensures equitable access for all students, including children with disabilities thus laying the foundation for lasting educational outcomes and community impact.

Classroom Construction And Renovation

NIA constructs and renovates classrooms to provide safe, spacious, and child-friendly learning environments. Modernized classrooms reduce overcrowding, improve concentration, and support inclusive education. These investments directly enhance both teaching quality and student learning experiences.

Toilet construction

Toilet construction interventions develop gender-sensitive sanitation facilities that promote health, dignity, and school attendance. Access to safe, private, and hygienic toilets reduces disease, prevents absenteeism, especially among girls, and ensures that all students can learn in a comfortable environment.

Kitchen to Table

NIA improves school kitchens and dining areas to ensure safe food preparation and dignified meal environments. These facilities enhance nutrition programs, reduce health risks, and support student concentration and academic performance, particularly for vulnerable learners.

Teacher Housing

By constructing and renovating teacher housing, NIA improves teacher retention, stability, and motivation. Safe and accessible accommodation enables teachers to remain close to schools, improving attendance, commitment, and the overall quality of education delivered.

Linda Ndoto

NIA enhances school safety by installing fencing that protects students, staff, and infrastructure from external risks. Secure school environments reduce disruptions, prevent accidents, and create focused, protective spaces for learning and growth.

Dormitories

By constructing and renovating teacher housing, NIA improves teacher retention, stability, and motivation. Safe and accessible accommodation enables teachers to remain close to schools, improving attendance, commitment, and the overall quality of education delivered.

Let Us Learn

The Let Us Learn program strengthens education quality and student empowerment by addressing gaps in teaching capacity, learning resources, and access to technology. Through teacher development, digital learning, infrastructure support, and student engagement, NIA equips students with the skills, confidence, and opportunities needed to succeed academically and in life.

Soma Project

The Soma Project improves learning by providing essential educational materials and establishing libraries and computer labs in underserved schools. Providing textbooks and teaching aids alongside establishing libraries and computer laboratories, the project creates resource-rich environments that support effective teaching, strengthen literacy, and build digital skills.

English Program

The English program equips students with critical language skills that enhance academic performance, communication, and future employability. By building confidence and global connectivity, this initiative opens pathways to broader opportunities.

Solar Lights for Homework

NIA installs solar energy systems to provide reliable, sustainable power in schools. Solar solutions extend study hours, improve safety, and enable digital learning, particularly in off-grid communities, creating future-ready learning environments.

Teacher training & mentorship

NIA invests in continuous teacher professional development to strengthen learner-centered and inclusive teaching practices. Improved teaching quality enhances student engagement, learning outcomes, and overall school performance.

Sports and Mental Wellbeing

NIA uses sports, particularly football, netball, etc. as a tool to promote physical health, mental well-being, and social development. Integrated with psychosocial support, sports programs build confidence, teamwork, and resilience, while improving school attendance and engagement, especially among girls.
